We weren’t completely primitive 100 years ago. We’ve been civilized for thousands of years now. Writing is relatively new, but we do have written history (in the form of hieroglyphics) that dates back further than 6000 years.

The industrial revolution started more than 100 years ago. Technology has been developing for a lot longer before that. Where did the ship come from? The flying machine, etc.
The reason for the jump in technological advances in the past one hundred years came with the invention of the computing device, or computer, which helped the planning and the executing of the wonders we have today.
And there is plenty, PLENTY of scientific evidence and even historical, written records from 6000 years ago (laws, ancient civilizations and such).
Not to mention carbon dating as well as studying the half life of elements.
Stop trying to disprove the fact that the Earth is old. Even most Christians don’t believe in the 4004 creation date.

There’s an enormous amount of proof of an “old world,” starting with the multitude of dating methods that support the age of the earth being on the order of 4-5 billion rather than 6,000. If by “we,” you mean humans, we haven’t been alive for a million years by any serious scientific estimate.
The reason historical accounts don’t reach back five billion years is because mankind didn’t exist back then. The oldest human remains we have are on the order of 200,000 years old or so, and by all accounts we weren’t forming civilizations until much later, which tends to be a prerequisite for written history. We do have cave paintings going back 30,000 years or so, but beyond that there isn’t much of early human art or historical records.

We weren’t that primitive over a hundred years ago, to begin with, but truthfully, if you pay attention, the advance was slow, and occurred a long time before 100 years ago, probably long before the USA was founded, which was over 100 years ago. Of course there aren’t accounts of that, I’ve never seen a paramecium, or a frog, or a dinosaur, write a historical account.
