Why do many religious people fail to realize that the Book of Revelation is really historical and NOT a book of prophecies?
I was watching a Def Leppard live concert last night with my friend’s dad. And he was telling me how awesome the 80s were and I feel like I was born in the wrong decade! All I listen to is 80s music and I love 80s movies and stuff. Like, for example, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. How can I make a time machine like they had in that movie where they got all the historical figures and stuff? Can I buy one on ebay? I’m serious! I really need to go back in time so I can hang out with the guys from Def Leppard and be a groupie. Please help! I’m unhappy in the 2000s but my life would be awesome in the 80s.
The Quran contains at least 109 verses that call Muslims to war with nonbelievers. Some are quite graphic, with commands to chop off heads and fingers and kill infidels wherever they may be hiding. Muslims who do not join the fight are called ‘hypocrites’ and warned that Allah will send them to Hell if they do not join the slaughter.
These verses are mostly open-ended, meaning that the historical context is not embedded within the surrounding text - as are nearly all of the Old Testament verses of violence. They are part of the eternal, unchanging word of Allah, and just as relevant or subjective as anything else in the Qur’an.
Unfortunately, there are very few verses of tolerance and peace to abrogate or even balance out the many that call for nonbelievers to be fought and subdued until they either accept humiliation, convert to Islam, or are killed. This proclivity toward violence - and Muhammad’s own martial legacy - has left a trail of blood and tears across world history.http://www.readingislam.com/servlet/Sateā¦
Obama believes Christ was a historical teacher, not the Messiah?
We all know from historical documents that good old pedophile Muhammad loved that young young ******. What did this dude do in his spare time when he wasn’t busy committing atrocities?
I am researching the historical context behind The Scarlet Letter, as in my English class we start studying it in September. A main theme of the book is the civilisation in which the protagonists live. I want to know more about the puritan beliefs and the way they were. I think reading some other books or maybe watching some films may help me with this. So does anybody know of any good films or books that help to portray puritan civilisations?
I have a school work question…

Marks: 10
Describe an American that you admire as a person. This could be a historical figure or someone living today. It could be a famous person or not. Explain why this person is important to you and why you think they make a great American. Remember to answer in complete sentences.
But I can’t think of any!
Are there any good fantasy/action(possibly horror also) books to read…
I mean books by authors like Darren Shan and Rick Riordan, they’re my favourites.
Also I find it quite cool how Rick Riordan has based his stories on historical stuff so if there’s a book with that then you’re answer is very much appreciated.
I do know that it’s a fiction, historical, and I think romance about three sister who’s father was killed by their stepmother and they became indentured servants so that they could come to America. It was set during the witch hunt era and because the youngest sister had a birth mark they were afraid she would be accused of being a witch and killed. But instead she falls in love with her cousin who helped them to come over on the ship he was working.
…He ends up in jail not wanting to save..
There is a sex scene where she is tied up (willingly). They live on some remote cliff. There is also a scene with fruit and a banana. He ends up in jail for something from his past (I can’t remember). He doesn’t want to be saved till the end when he realizes he loves her, in the end she saves him, and even with his bad reputation they go back to society and are accepted.
(he may be a duke)
