******* “people only need a tiny bit of protein”

What does it matter what I, or others think about other people’s opinions. Everyone’s opinions are going to be different, some may agree with the above statements, while others may disagree. These statement do not represent or speak for the majority(or anyone besides the person who stated them.
Anyway, what do I think?
“meat eaters are ignorant with no compassion and i will not feel sorry for them when they are riddled with cancer and heart disease.”
– This person sounds very angry. Anyone that has experienced cancer, or the disease within their families, would understand that should wished on anyone. I have experience cancer within my close family, and I would feel for anyone that had to experience it directly or indirectly.
“Acquiring a taste for flesh two million years ago was what altered the evolution of our ancestors from relatively peaceful herbivores to destructive and bloodthirsty savages.”
– This is merely opinion. I would like to see scientific evidence to support this statement, otherwise it is not possible to say more.
“I don’t care about humans, I care about the animals.”
– This person sounds a bit misguided. It is perfectly possible to care about both people and animals.
“people only need a tiny bit of protein”
– This is simply a statement that needs a bit more explanation. The human body does not need as much protein as most people think. “A tiny bit” is not an exact measurement. You would need to know what this person means by a tiny bit
I’m not sure what misreading intentions have to do with the above. These statements do not seem as if they can really be misread(with the exception of the last). These people are giving their opinion loud and clear.
However, unless such statements are backed by facts, they are merely opinion. It is interesting however, that you focus on vegetarians negative comments when in most of these questions there are similar examples by those who eat meat. Why not bring attention to those statements as well, or in doing so do are you not able to spell our your agenda quite as convincingly?
“how can you willfully make yourself more prone to diet related conditions like malnutrition, pernicious anemia, deficiency disorders, etc or even death by becoming a vegan?”

“take you mindless drivel and unhealthy lifestyle and get off my internet”
Source: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;…
And if I searched through numerous questions I could find quite a few other examples of similar statements made by those who eat meat. I’m not sure what you are trying to prove to yourself with this question, but it seems as if you are biased(surprise, surprise) and looking for a particular answer, and swaying people to tell you what you want to hear, by only providing particular statements.
The typical meat eater is ignorant to what goes on. I care about people and animals. People don’t need near as much protein as they are led to believe. I don’t know what it was that made us start to eat meat. I would guess we mostly ate small game in the beginning of our meat years. Some meat eaters are very ignorand and uncompassionate, but not all of them. And you know this.
Brother, its not the statements that are important, but the kind of attitude and kind of responses you seem to attract. Every person we meet is our own reflection. So if we have a confrontational attitude, we will meet confrontational people and statments.
And yes its true that you don’t need as much protien as you are taught to believe. All the toxins and tumors are some form of protien in nature. So fasting from protien helps cleanse your system from these toxins.
Who cares? Everyone has their opinion. This section is supposed to be discussing the vegan and vegetarian diet ( please note that it’s under the Food and drink umbrella), not debating or soap boxing. If you are so against this way of living, than please feel free to go elsewhere.
I care about all living creatures equally. Animals, humans, etc. Would you eat a child that was hung upside and drained of blood while still awake? Probably not. Animals are innocent, unless taught to be otherwise by people. People not as much at times. I think that veg*ns can get just as much protein as meat eaters, you just have to know how to go about it.
I would much rather have an animal as a friend, than as a meal.
Coincidently, I’d also rather have an animal as a friend, rather than a human as a friend.
You can quote me on that AND take it to the bank.
the first statement i disagree to be honest i used to eat meat i cant be a hypocrit.
2nd one no i dont really agree.
3rd one, i care about animals and humans equaliy.
4th one no thats not true but i do agree that you can get protein from other sources rather than meat itself.
if i am honest you strike me as total obsessed with vegetarianism!
if the way some vegans&vegetarians go on annoy you why come on this section, your not either vegetarian or vegan and you simply come on here to start a riot i understand many v&v on here are over the top and annoying and i dont blame you for wanting to know why but i would honestly just drop it because i dont think your truly intrested i think you want an arguement!
i have no problem with meat eaters and do not think they are heartless. so dont judge all us V&V as being like that as it just is not true!
Asking for “honest” answers might be asking too much..
And what exactly are your intentions, Cliff?
I’m just asking not being mean.
First Statement- Don’t agree with because my family has meat eaters and they aren’t ignorant, but its linked that you can get diseases and cancer from meat.
2nd- I don’t even know what the hell that person was even trying to convince or ask.
3rd- That’s a bitchy person’s comment. Most of us all care about humans and animals equally.
4th- Totally untrue, we need protein, but you don’t need meat to get it.
With that said, I agree that some people on here are extremely harsh. But there are others who aren’t.
My honest opinion (as a meat-eater) is that veg*ns have an extraordinary ability to be obnoxious, pretentious turds. I know vegetarians, I work with and have dated and lived with them–I spent a whole summer living with a semi-vegetarian household (I didn’t eat red meat, Shanice only ate fish, Josh was completely vegetarian etc) where we only cooked vegetarian meals with our household funds.
But the vegetarians which seem to hang out on yahoo answers make me want to kill a cow with my bare hands and eat a big, bleeding rare steak just to spite them.
I think these are the most ”interesting” statements.
I have no opinions on the statements, opinions are just that, opinions.
Oh, and thank you for reporting my insulting answer on the B12 question, I understand it was against the rules, but I felt it had to be said. Now it’s gone.
1. A little high and mighty, and vegetarians sometimes get cancer and heart disease.
2. No one knows if that is true. It’s just an opinion.
3. Hmmm rather extreme. But I can relate to a certain extent; sometimes I believe animals are better company than people. Animals never lie to you or tell stories about you behind your back.
4. Depends on what this person means by “a tiny bit.” Many people probably eat more protein than necessary.
Not a veg, but wow. Eating meat all those years ago is what allowed the human brain to develop allowing us to have memory, to mourn, to imagine, and to form societies rather than herds. The smartest creatures in the world are omnivorous.
